Our Lesson Plan Templates.
Core Curriculum Units.
All of our units focus on different perspectives, or ways to think about, health!
Unit 1Introduction to the Human Body
Unit 1 introduces us to "Superhuman" and "Supergerm" in order to learn how to think about the organization of the human body and to take us through the cyclic stages of being healthy, falling sick, and recovery.
|
Unit 2Body Systems
Unit 2 introduces us to our new friend, Fatu, whose fierce personality is highlighted as we learn about each of her body systems in order to link anatomy with function.
|
Unit 3Diseases
Unit 3 introduces us to the common Sierra Leonean diseases and allows each of us to solve disease mysteries by "playing doctor" after each lesson.
|
Unit 4Social-Emotional Learning
Unit 4 introduces the idea of mental health as the connection between the mind and physical health and gives us practical skills to process, cope, and react to life's most difficult challenges and losses.
|
Unit 5Health and the Environment
Unit 5 introduces us to a map of a fictional land including a jungle, city, farm, mine, and forest through which we travel to a new location each lesson to learn about health and the environment.
